REUNION, 2008...just suggestions, so we can just do it.

Reserve Pine Ridge Lodge and all housing with kitchens in 2007...They are probably not taking reservations before Easter, 2007

We had 30 tables this year, plus the three plastic tables. We could use 30 tables next year, plus five more folding tables?

We must request the stove be turned on prior to our beginning to cook.

We need large outside garbage bags for many cans, and request they leave us 4 to 5 gigantic plastic garbage bags for the really big garbage can.

Donna brought home: 1 large box family teabags. (we used one box this year. Who brought the lemonaide? Did Alec? Did he bring tea?) Jar dill pickles. Jar sweet pickles. Dishwashing liquid. Cleaner with bleach. Much sweet and low. Box zip lock bags. Large garbage bags. She will furnish them for the next reunion.

Donna has dishtowels, plus six salt and pepper shakers.

We used 1 can of coffee and never opened the decaffinated coffee. Let's check to see if anybody drinks decaff before we buy any more.

Sandra suggested we have crawfish and sanwhiches on Friday night next time--no burgers and hotdogs. She said she would get all the makings out for sandwhiches if Alec is bringing the luncheon meats. This is just a suggestion. What do you think? We need to finish crawfish before dark...hard to eat crawfish in the dark. Do we need laterns?

Donna will run the coffee stations next time.

Donna thought the toys on the tables were nifty. Everyone seemed to be entertained.

Donna, Becky and Alec will co-ordinate food so we don't repeat purchases.

Just jump in here...make your suggestions here!!!!

I heard about a "night time egg hunt". This would really have to be for only the young at heart -(that's me - you know I don't know what old means). Everybody gets to use their flashlights (all us kids like to use flashlights) and hunt after dark. We could make that a money maker for the family, pay $1.00 to get to hunt, use plastic eggs and then go for it! Just an idea!

Saturday night Hey, Jean, do you have plans for us or the gamblers gathering and the talkers talking?

Here is Sue's description of the guessing jars from last year:

from Sue: Hi Everyone: Here is some almost pretty sure correct information on the potential auction happenings at our reunion.
One table will be called the Guessing Table. This one is the really fun one. There will be jars, full of things. For one thin dime you can guess how many things are in the jar. The closest one to guess the number gets the stuff in the jar. Each guess is one dime. I was thinking each family could fill a jar and bring for this table. The jar could be filled with the conventional things like m&ms or jelly beans, or you could do hair things, or marbles or bouncing balls or Swedish fish. I know you are thinking of that perfect "thing" right now. Bring two jars if you are really feeling called! I was hoping the pre-teens out there could get in touch with me and help run this table.
There will also be the regular auction tables, with certain items that everyone can write their name and bid on.
And then there will be ticket tables. You buy a ticket and if your ticket number is called you get to select any item on that table. Now the interesting part comes in here. If your ticket was not called, but you really wanted a certain item on that table, you could try to 'buy' that ticket from the person. By saying something like, "I will give you 63 cents or $2.48 for your ticket" and then if that person agrees you could be the one whose turn it was pick the item you just really needed. And the best part is any money collected in this process goes to the re-union fun fund. The tickets will be sold for I think we decided on 25 cents or close to that and then another colored ticket for $3.00 which would be for items on a different set of tables. Here I was hoping that everyone could bring a box of stuff , special stuff, you know dust collectors, mother in law gifts, garage sale finds that aren't finds anymore, back of the closet stuff. You know special stuff. And of course Vowell 'heirlooms'are always welcomed at any table. It would be great if any teens out there who would like to help me at these tables would get in touch with me.

I will get back with all of you after a while, hope this is not too confusing, it was for me in the beginning. Take care all Love mesue

Vowell Town
For Auction: Antique Magazine Holder, from bathroom of Ruby Vowell Estate, does not come with McCall's Magazines. Some rust spots on metal...might require burnishing with fine steel wool. Please let me know if there is any interest in this fine family heirloom.

I think you might want to find a different item - like maybe an enamel tea pitcher. Only if you want to raise some interest. What do you think, Pat? If you had the McCall's the magazine holder would probably do better.
Manager 1

Gee, Manager 1, I don't know. Once a bunch of us were in the back bedroom, and we were even being quiet and everything, and reading McCall's magazines, and some mother came in and we got in trouble?????

By the way, Lisa and David will provide pralines for the auction. I hear there was some fierce competition at Christmas over such pralines.

SING ME A LULLABYE

Okay...is someone computer literate? Perhaps we could do a cd of favorite songs...and even if we can't this year, we can list them here, and maybe we can do it for 2008...I've been trying to think of a favorite I would like to have on a Vowell Sounds CD...Right now, for some reason I keep coming up with

Diamonds and Rust by Joan Baez and
Ode to Billie Joe (because it has Tallahatchie in it, as well as Bobbye Streeter is from around here (greenwood)

Ruby...Fly me to the Moon and
Barbara Allen...at least she used to sing those for me.

Memories from Cats requested by Scarlett for the family

Sentimental Journey..request by Manager 1 for Imogene and Franklin

Battle of New Orleans (1959) Jimmy Driftwood...request by Camellia for the Good Ed and the New Oleans crew...can't you just see the Good Ed singing that on Granny's porch while we tried to swing high enough for the swing to fall?

You Belong to Me...request by Camellia for Marjorie Powers

Manager 1 says:
Jackie W.- My Funny Valentine? What do you think?

Memories from Cats requested by Scarlet for the entire family

Born and Raised in the Boondocks - for the whole crew - if you weren't born there you definitly were raised there! -
Manager 1

who wants to play?

Does anybody recognize this vase? No, I don't think it's going into auction, but browse this site for auction items.

Can anybody make a t-shirt quilt? I think they are fast, and I feel many of us can contribute a t-shirt for a square. The kitty can pay for the materials or to have it done, and the auction price could start at that amount? Anybody interested?
